Materials and Production methods of Ricky Swallow

Ricky Swallow is a young artist who has a lot of abstract fantasy and an interesting point of viewing the world as a source of inspiration for his artwork. Most of his work are sculptures showing objects the real life like bicycles and on the other hand skeletons as devices of another world. And he does pretty well putting those things together forming f. ex. a skeleton riding a bicycle. The materials he uses are different. I think he works a lot with wood, like European limewood for ‘The Arrangement’, but also other materials like metal or fabric. For that reason he needs some space (even in height) and good light which is given in the upper studio I planned. It is even build with rough materials like metal which allow hard work on hard wood. Ricky swallow is also a painter: The pictures I chose (‘Drawing Horror’ and an untitled one) are painted with watercolour on paper.

Materials and Production Methods of Sidney Nolan

Sidney Nolan is a painter in the common sense. He paints his pictures with colour on paper or linen frames. The pieces of artwork I chose from him he mostly painted with sets of coloured inks, dry pigment and wax crayon on paper. For most of his pictures are showing natural realities or even abstract situations taking place in nature, he needs to imagine these natural surroundings. In his studio in the underground he finds many different materials, like wood or stone which form a natural space without suggesting the real nature as the landscape outside. There are even though different levels and corners in the room, implying natural places. I think it helps to imagine and not to copy.
